Striking technique in MMA is widely represented by many types of punches and kicks. There are no regulations on the use of punches and kicks - an athlete can strike only with hands or only with legs throughout the fight - it's all at the fighter's discretion. Striking technique in MMA includes elements of strikes from boxing, kickboxing, and Thai boxing.
Stand-up wrestling. Based on sports such as freestyle wrestling and sambo. Using various techniques (grabs, throws, turnovers, sweeps, etc.), you will learn to control your opponent at the octagon fence and take them down to the ground.
Ground fighting is improved through the study of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and grappling. These martial arts are effective both for learning ways to achieve a dominant position on the ground and defending against it. Special attention is paid to learning pain and choking techniques. In the early stages of MMA development as a modern sport, pain and choking techniques were extremely effective and allowed fighters with unimpressive physical characteristics to win against significantly larger opponents.
MMA fighters pay close attention to their physical training, and modern CrossFit helps them with this. Despite the fact that CrossFit is a full-fledged sport, its complexes serve as an excellent base for athletes' physical preparation. Thanks to its uniqueness, variability and accessibility, CrossFit training easily fits into the training process of both amateur and professional fighters. And the effect of these workouts is obvious.
The main quality that all mixed martial arts fighters focus on is endurance. After all, if a fight in MMA does not end early, the fighter spends 3 long rounds of 5 minutes each in the cage or ring, where their endurance will determine the outcome of the fight. The transition from standing to ground, from ground to standing greatly exhausts the athlete, and this change in loads is similar to CrossFit training. After all, most WODs have to be performed at maximum intensity against the background of fatigue. In addition to endurance, CrossFit also develops explosive strength and strengthens the fighter's moral and volitional qualities.
